Spring 2008 - English 98/198 - Units: 2

The Radiohead DeCal is a class for old and new fans alike to gather, investigate, and discuss all aspects of the band’s history, music, videos, live performances, influences, impact on pop culture, and anything you can think of. It’s definitely one of the most enjoyable, inspiring classes you will ever take ~ you can’t go wrong talking about your favorite band for 2 hours a week!

You will be required to complete 5 short homework assignments (one for each album, due on the first day we discuss an album starting with The Bends) 1 final paper, and regularly attend class. Though participating in class discussions is not part of your final grade, it is the foundation of the class and is MUCH appreciated and enjoyed.

The first class will meet on the first Monday of the semester, January 28th (the Monday before is a holiday before classes start) in 123 WHEELER at 7PM ~ you must attend the first class, regardless of your enrollment status, or you will be dropped.

You have nothing to fear, nothing to doubt ~ welcome to the Radiohead DeCal!

Enrollment Info:

To enroll in the Radiohead DeCal: email Joanna at joannacw@berkeley.edu with the following information:

1) Name

2) Year/Major

3) Top 3 Favorite Radiohead songs

4) Why you want to take the class

5) Are you taking the class upper division or lower division?

Starting on January 1st, you will be emailed the CCN to enroll on Telebears. (Tip: Fr/Soph lower div, Jr/Sr upper div) You can email me your information now and I will keep tabs on your enrollment in the class. On the 1st, I'll send out the CCNs to everyone.

There are 40 spots total for this class: 20 Lower Division, 20 Upper Division, and a waitlist that will be updated weekly. Even if you do not get into the class, we encourage you to visit and sit-in whenever you want. This class is offered every semester without fail, so need not fear if it doesn’t work out this time around!

Important Note: We cannot place you ahead of someone else in the waiting list because you urgently need 2 units to be at the minimum for the semester. Take care in making sure that you have a back-up in case you do not get in!
