In this class we will explore cultural and societal themes through Disney film.  From Walt Disney's creation of the studio to the present, we will look at Disney from different spectrums, analyzing how we have influenced Disney and how Disney has influenced us.  Topics of discussion will be: Walt Disney and animation; portrayals of race, sexuality, and gender; Disney during WWII; Disney and the Cold War; the parks; and story adaptation. We will also utilize film screenings to analyze the films as a group.
